It’s almost summer, so now is a great season to review your skincare products and routine.

For our upcoming outdoor adventures under the sunlight, we want versatile and easy-to-use products.

Each skin demands its essential type of care, so choose wisely your sunscreen and antioxidants!

Next, let’s check the hottest ingredients for this summer!

Ultraviolet (UV) rays are the main factors in damaging the skin aspect like photoaging (wrinkles formation), dark spots, and sunburns.

And not to mention more serious skin problems.

Start to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protector factor (SPF) of 30 or higher.

Therefore, it protects the skin against UVA and UVB rays.

Use the same sunscreen formula preferred by your skin, or pick fresh products to test!

We have lots of options available on the market and sometimes is kind of hard to pick one, the right one.

Mineral and Synthetic SPF

Two types of sunscreen are available for us, with mineral-rich actives, or synthetic actives.

Both of them protect the skin barrier with powerful filters.

Mineral filters in our sun care products are zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide.

Also called “reflectors” because they form a protective barrier, blocking the sun damages.

It takes effect immediately after application.

Synthetic filters offer over 30 ingredients.

This type of sunscreen is absorbed into the skin, taking effect 15 minutes after application.

Converts the light into heat, being released on the skin’s surface.

About this, I would like to show you what my quick summer kit contains.

Dry Mist

Mine is the DRY MIST SPF50+ from BARIÉSUN.

This product is fun to use, super easy to apply, and dedicated to sensitive skin.

Suitable for large areas, like your arms, or legs.

Use it with no regrets on the face and neck too!

Indeed formulated with synthetic active ingredients still with very good if not best recommendations, from professionals.

Works as a hydrating dry mist, with a non-greasy finish.

Feels very light on the skin and comes with a soft – delicate fragrance.

I enjoy applying this one all over the body before going out.

There are various products from different brands for you to check and try.

Just look for what suits you best!

SPF Cream

I’m familiar with this brand, and I use BARIÉSUN CREAM SPF50 and BARIÉSUN ULTRA-LIGHT FLUID SPF50.

Both are for sensitive skin, fragrance-free, and offer high protection to your face, neck, tattoos, and moles.

Very suitable during summer days, with a non-greasy touch, super light on the skin, and water-resistant.

Of course, you can use other products from other brands, more appropriate to your skin’s desires.

Different textures or actives, or maybe you go for a mineral-rich sunscreen, instead of a synthetic one.

Keep the SPF cream as the last step in your daily routine, especially if you wear only a face moisturizer and serums.

When you applied make-up, make sure the sunscreen comes right before your foundation, tint cream, BB Cream, or CC Cream.

Note that all these products used for coverage already have, in most cases, an SPF of 15+.

Peel Serum and Cleanser

Summer brings a sun-kissed look, but we want our skin dewy and youthful too. How can we have this?

Depending on your skin type and conditions you may consider to stat using exfoliants, like AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) and BHA (beta hydroxy acid).

When you have dry, normal, or sensitive skin, you can use AHA, with ingredients like lactic acid and glycolic acid.

I belong to this category, so I use a leave-on peel serum with lactic acid and a toner with fruit acids.

I’m currently using Lactic Acid 5% + HA from The Ordinary.

During hot days you will want a nice fresh cleanser with exfoliating properties.

As for BHA, commonly known as salicylic acid, it contributes to cell regeneration and improves the appearance of skin.

BHA exfoliant has the desired effects on a combination and oily skin.

Please note that such treatments require intense UV protection, your skin being more sensitive during this period.

In this regard, I recommend that you talk to a dermatologist or a professional.

Antioxidant Serum

Another important and key ingredient is your antioxidant-rich serum.

Antioxidants have many benefits on your skin, such as UV and skin protection against external factors and pollution.

Being photoprotective combats the photoaging process and our collagen degradation.

Moreover, it is a real SPF amplifier enhancing our skin protection under the sun.

And neutralizes other sources of free radicals.

At the moment I test The Ordinary EUK 134 0.1%.

Is described as a high-potency antioxidant with a water-free formula, and fragrance-free too.

I apply it before sunscreen, creams, or oils, and after water-based serums.

Most of the time I only use this product and my sunscreen.

We will talk more about our favorite products in the following articles.
