In this review, I present to you a hydrating facial toner and a gentle peeling gel from the HARUHARU WONDER Black Rice line.
BLACK RICE HYALURONIC TONER
Without any further introduction, the black rice toner from Haruharu Wonder has become my favorite in less than a year. It is an essential part of my skincare routine.
The toner won me from the start, as soon as I saw the word black rice. This is because I always have a great experience when using active ingredients derived from rice. Therefore, for me, this particular product was a very fast buy. And no regrets there!
Another important decision factor regarding my new toner was to be from the k-beauty or j-beauty industry, and obviously to offer natural ingredients. The reason? When it comes to beauty, many Korean and Japanese brands know the skin needs differently, so they offer simple but unexpected, effective formulas and ingredients. As in the case of the Black Rice line from Haruharu Wonder – fermentation and microencapsulation of certain active ingredients.
The Feel
This toner has a delicate and light texture. It’s more like an essence, thick water, but not heavy or sticky. It feels refreshing while it absorbs fast into the skin and leaves it plumped and nourished.
Star Ingredients
The black rice line from Haruharu Wonder has a unique formula called Ultra Deep Technology. This is related to the microencapsulation of certain active ingredients to improve their stability and effectiveness.
We start with the toner’s aroma! This true lavender has a pleasant floral scent, fresh, slightly herbaceous, and even therapeutic. Despite being added at the end of the recipe, the essential oil retains its properties, but may also have side effects on the skin. Lavender oil helps restore injured, sunburned skin, or simply put it helps with cell regeneration.
The second ingredient is betaine, a cosmetic active used for its moisturizing and protective properties.
Rice bran extract is a composition of more than 100 antioxidants, including ferulic acid, polyphenols, vitamin E, oryzanol, and flavonoids. And the fermented black rice contains 30 times more antioxidants, making this toner super potent against free radical damages. The bran rice extract also helps with skin elasticity due to the high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids, polysaccharides, and other micronutrients.
Also, the toner is formulated with bamboo, ginseng, Baikal skullcap, aspergillus active, hyaluronic acid, and beta-glucan, plus many more. These ingredients intensely moisturize, nourish, soothe the skin, and help reduce uneven skin tone (brightens skin).
This first version of the toner does contain a small amount of alcohol but is not noticeable at all. You can always opt-in for the second version of the black rice toner, which is a more suitable choice for sensitive skin types. It is free of alcohol and lavender essential oil.
How I Apply It
I use this toner every morning and evening, so twice a day. Directly from the bottle, I apply it to clean skin and pat it until completely absorbed. The following step of my routine can be a serum or a mask.
Sometimes I choose to use this toner as a sheet mask. I add enough toner essence on ultra-thin cotton pads and leave it on for about 10 minutes.
In Conclusion
At the moment, it is one of my favorite product, and I will keep using it! It makes me feel relaxed and pampered.
As far as I know, there is this comparison online, which does match the general feel of this toner – it is really “kombucha for your face”! The black rice toner is suitable for a wide range of skin types, including normal, dry, mature, dehydrated, and combination skin.
The best way to see results is to use it regularly.

BLACK RICE SOFT PEELING GEL
This year I decided to try a commercial product and I chose the rice peeling gel from HARUHARU WONDER. There was something intriguing about this brand’s formula.
I have used this gel for more than 5 months and I find it to be one of the best exfoliants on the market, especially because it is fine and gentle on the skin. In addition, it is effective in removing impurities and the first layer of dead skin.
However, alcohol is the third ingredient added, so from this point of view, I am still looking for the ultimate gel peel.
The Feel
This exfoliating gel features a smooth texture, slightly transparent, with a gelatin consistency, that spreads easily and leaves skin feeling soft and youthful. When you massage off the product it will leave dissolved cellulose granules, along with impurities and dead skin. Yay!
Star Ingredients
The peeling ingredients are 95% obtained from natural sources and focus on the fermentation process. Being also a product from the black rice line, this peel contains a large part of the ingredients present in the hyaluronic toner formula.
The obvious difference starts with the alcohol, as the third ingredient added, meaning here it is in a much larger proportion than in the toner. In addition, this peeling gel formula contains various suspending agents, solvents, and other sensory factor-oriented actives, like texture enhancers and dispersion agents.
The Panax Ginseng, better known as Korean Ginseng present in the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice line is part of the Ultra Deep Technology. And when applied topically WONDER’s Panax Ginseng boosts hydration, and skin firmness, and diminishes rough texture, wrinkles, and impurities.
How I Apply It
Apply a small amount of peeling gel on clean and dry skin in certain areas such as the forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin (avoid eyes and mouth area). Leave on for 2-3 minutes, then gently massage and rinse off thoroughly with warm water.
If you’re not sure about a product, do a patch test and always avoid applying it to open wounds.
It is so easy to use and you only need to apply it once a week. It can be applied twice a week, especially during the summer.
In Conclusion
This peeling gel gently dissolves and removes a thin layer of dead skin cells, so is not really for everyone. It did not irritate my normal-dry skin after any application, and it says it is safe for all skin types. Works well on tired, dull skin or even on fine lines.
The price is right, but it depends on everyone’s budget. I find the experience with this peeling gel to be very natural, simple, positive, and gentle on the skin.
